A translation by Gwyneth Lewis of 'The Tempest', William Shakespeare
Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru in association with Wales Millennium Centre, National Eisteddfod of Wales and Citrus Arts.
Part of the World Shakespeare Festival (Royal Shakespeare Company) & London 2012 Festival.
Directed by Elen Bowman and being performed through August, September and October, in special performance tents at The National Eisteddfod of Wales, Vale of Glamorgan; The United Counties Showground, Carmarthen and The Faenol Estate, Bangor.
On a remote island, a brother's revenge brews a storm.
Ariel wrecks havoc with a hurricane of fire and water. On raging seas, Antonio prays for his soul as Prospero watches from the land.
Laughter and tears, nightmare and confusion lead a circus of characters from Prospero's past on a chaotic hunt around the island as he gathers all his strength to face his brother and foes once more.
The Tempest is thought to be Shakespeare's last play - a work of masterly invention that is also considered his most ambitious.
With this new Welsh translation by Gwyneth Lewis and and circus by Citrus Art, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru brings Prospero's dreams to life on this strange and magical isle.
